Mindy and Phil have always dreamed of becoming farmers - we have just taken an unusual journey to get here! 

We go way back to high school days in Akron, OH and went on to college and to graduate studies in Environmental Science at University of Michigan.  We both have worked as environmental consultants.  Phil went on to work for BP - a 25 year adventure which took the family from Cleveland to London, to Brussels, to Atlanta, back to Cleveland, to Chicago - before buying the farm in Homeworth, OH.  Mindy's experience includes many jobs and volunteer positions including teaching GED to urban high school drop outs.  We have raised 2 beautiful children, Paul and Laura who are now off pursuing their own dreams and careers.

We have always been passionate backyard gardeners embracing sustainable practices for growing vegetables and flowers.  Mindy was awarded the "Master Gardener" certificate in Illinois where her volunteer hours were spent transforming the parkways of Chicago's near west-side neighborhoods into beautiful perennial gardens.

Just about the time when we decided that it was time to realize our dream we were blessed to find out that old friends of ours from the Shaker Farmer's market were retiring their farm.  Once we saw the farm we knew this was the one and the rest is history.  We are so fortunate to inherit their hard work and vision as manifest in the working farm now know as Breezy Hill.

So at this point in our lives as new farmers, we are short on experience, but we are long on passion and committment to growing high quality vegetables, fruits and flowers using sustainable agricultural methods, just like our ancestors used to.
